' Interlinked Challenges is a non-profit, university-based research project that addresses global challenges and sustainability in an interconnected, complex world.
Global challenges addressed in this site include: biodiversity, climate change, eco-migrations, economy, energy, food, health, hunger, population growth, poverty, security, sustainability, transportation, urbanization, and water stress.
Images and bits of text are drawn from articles, podcasts, blogs, press releases, institutional reports, testimonies, encyclopedias, books, and documentaries. Each bit is referenced, date stamped, linked to the original article, tagged on multiple themes, and assigned a related image, which has its own description, author credit, date stamp, image permission, and back link. Connections are made to bits of info from the 2007 IPCC Report on Climate Change.
The site is designed to make searching on content related to global challenges more cognitively manageable. It does so by featuring bite-size chunks of information, tagging cases on multiple thematic perspectives, linking related content, supporting the fluent retrieval of relevant content, and displaying search results in a two-columned timeline that integrates images and text.
Users are encouraged to use site content in mashups, articles, blog entries, essays, slideshows, podcasts, vidcasts, and reports about global challenges.' Brian P. Collins
