I'm the publisher of an annual publication called The Hotel Yearbook which looks at trends - but mostly expectations - in the global hotel industry. Its concept was lifted from The Economist's "The World in X" (X always being next year), only applied exclusively to a single industry. Its by-invitation-only contributors are senior executives of hotel groups as well as a myriad other industry experts and insiders such as investors, analysts, consultants, etc. Everyone looks at a different, very specific topic, for example "the UK market" or "new design trends" or "the resort segment", and shares his/her insights and expectations for the year ahead. The result is very thought-provoking.
Why am I here? I've had the great pleasure of meeting Chris Luebkeman on a few different occasions and hearing him speak about the factors that are shaping the future - not only for the hotel industry, but with special emphasis on the implications for this business. I asked Chris to join the publication's Advisory Board and am thrilled that he accepted my invitation.
So I'm keen to continue our relationship, as well as to learn more about the drivers of change, both from Chris personally and here on this site!
PS I've added some photos of interesting hotels I've stayed in (or walked past) recently, from my flickr collection.
